If you find that you see what you think is the paranormal right before you fall asleep or right upon waking up you might want to investigate these:
The term hypnopompic describes the period when a person wakes up. Hypnagogic defines the period when a person falls asleep.

Why do I bring this up? Well, even though I've had paranormal experiences I also suffer from having those sleep hallucinations...and yes, they seem so real! I've actually hit my husband thinking something was on his face. :sneaky:

To be honest in site of where heaven is to the earth, some people just haven't passed on yet. Simple as that. Those who don't believe in an afterlife, I can understand their disbelief. If certain people out there believe in a God then the paranormal isn't much far from that.

As for sleep hallucinations, that's something I've had to deal with every day for the past 10 years or so. I actually may have one of the above illnesses you stated. A buddy of mine @Andox88 who used to be staff here pointed out what hypnogia was and said he thought that might be an issue I was having. Personally it might not be that at all. I was thinking it could be a temporal lobe disorder considering I can't visualize my own memory yet I still remember very easily. Though that's also a symptom of the above as well. Either way good news is I'm starting to do a lot better recently. Whatever caused it seems to be subsiding so that's good.

What types of things have you "seen" that you think might have been related to hypnagogia?

One thing that has always bothered me is that even though I know that some things seen were just the brain extending into REM mode, there have been times when my daughter and I have seen the same thing while "asleep" only moments apart. At our old house she would see a green hand and maybe it was stuck in my brain that she had seen it in the house but there were a couple times when I saw it too.

The one time she didn't tell me about something before we had both seen it was a little gnome like man. I saw it first upon waking up and tried smothering him with a pillow...but he wasn't really THERE and then she came running into my room moments later saying she saw a little man come into her room. Creepy.
